SUMMARY OF WORK PLAN 2023


The 2023 Annual Work Plan (RKT) for the activities of PT. Gunung Raya Utama Timber Industries IUPHHK-HA is prepared by referring to the Work Plan for Timber Forest Product Utilization in Natural Forests on Production Forests (RKUPPHK-HA) for the period 2021 to 2030. The 2022 Annual Work Plan (RKT) was approved independently by the company through a "self-approval" process, as stated in the Decree of the Director of PT. Gunung Raya Utama Timber Industries Number: SK.001/GRUTI-MDN/I/2023, dated January 5, 2023, regarding the Approval of the 2023 Forest Utilization Annual Work Plan.

The summary of the RKT 2023 Work Plan is presented as follows:

A. PLANNING 

  1. Boundary Management of IUPHHK Area
    PT GRUTI's IUPHHK-HA area borders with: Nature Reserve Forest (HSA), Protection Forest, Production Forest, Other Use Area (APL) and Association Boundary. The total length of the area boundary is 617.29 km and 122.50 km has been realized.  In accordance with the Boundary Guidelines that have been approved by BAPLAN, PT GRUTI's area will be demarcated and reconstructed. The total planned boundary demarcation for this year is 494,79 km.
  2. Protected Area Boundary Marking
    Protected areas in the PT GRUTI area consist of: Protected Forest Buffer Zone, Nature Reserve Forest, River Boundary, Coastal Boundary, KPPN and KPSL. The target to implement protected area boundaries this year is 366,96 km.
  3. Work Area Arrangement (PAK)
    Work Area Arrangement (PAK)  is required for the demarcation of logging blocks. The plan for implementation this year covers 38,5 Km.
  4. Pre-Logging Inventory (ITSP)
    ITSP is required to determine the timber potential at the area of a planned Logging Block. In this year, the ITSP implementation is scheduled to be executed on 1,405 Ha in the Block of RKT 2024.

B. PRODUCTION

  1. Forest Area Clearing (PWH)
    Forest Area Clearing requires the construction of a production timber transportation road from the Logging Block to the Timber Pile (TPK).  The realization this year is for 8,5 km of Main Road and 25.9 km of Branch Road. 
  2. Harvesting
    Harvesting or production of logs this year is targeted at 155,994.89 M3 from Logging Block of RKT and PWH with the types of Meranti Group and Mixed Forest Group. The types of wood are Keruing, Meranti, Kempas, Medang and other commercial species.

C. FOREST DEVELOPMENT

  1. Seedling Procurement
    Seedling procurement is required for : Planting / Enrichment of Former Felling, Vacant Land Planting, Left-Right Road Planting and SILIN Planting. The target of seedling procurement in RKT 2023 is 75,360 stems.
  2. Enrichment
    Enrichment is carried out in areas that have been logged in the RKT block. The enrichment target this year is 156 ha with a total of 62,400 seedlings with local superior species such as Keruing, Meranti, Damar Laut, Jelutung and Kempas.
  3. Planting of Vacant Land/Non-Productive Areas
    In addition to the former logging area, there will be planting on vacant land / non-productive areas in PT GRUTI. The target of planting vacant land / non-productive area in Tele II Unit for this year is 519 Ha.
  4. Planting on Both Sides of the Timber Transportation Road
    Planting on Both side of the road is carried out in areas that are open or "kurang permudaan". This year's target for both sides of the Road planting is 20 Ha.
  5. Enrichment Plant Maintenance
    Maintenance of enrichment plants in the form of replanting, cleaning or removing unwanted plants(pests) is carried out on trees resulting from planting/enrichment.This year's target  is 1,202 Ha.
  6. Plant Maintenance on Vacant Land Areas
    Plant maintenance on vacant land areas in the form of replanting, cleaning or aeration is carried out on trees resulting from planting on vacant land areas. There is no plan for maintenance activities on vacant land areas because at Tele II Unit there has been no realization of planting last year. 
  7. Maintenance of Plants on Both Side of the Timber Transportation Road
    Plant maintenance on both of the timber transportation road in the form of replanting, cleaning or aeration is carried out on trees planted as a result of planting on the both of the timber transportation road. The target of plant maintenance this year is 20 Ha.

D. FOREST PROTECTION AND SECURITY

Forest protection and security activities include: Forest and Land Fire Control, Countermeasures/Prevention of Illegal Logging/Theft, Cultivation, Protection of Flora and Fauna/Germplasm and Protection of Soil and Water Conservation.

E. Technical and Non-Technical Forestry Personnel

The use of technical personnel in forest management is absolutely essential. Currently, the technical personnel at PT. GRUTI consist of: 6 forestry graduates, 3 GANISPHPL-CANHUT, 1 GANISPHPL KURPET, 4 GANISPHPL BINHUT, 2 GANISPHPL NENHUT, and 6 GANISPHPL PKB. The company continues to strive to improve the quality of human resources by consistently involving employees in training programs according to the company's needs.

F. EQUIPMENT

The plan for the procurement and use of forest operation equipment this year includes: 32 chainsaws, 16 logging trucks, 12 wheel loaders, 6 bulldozers, 6 motor graders, 8 excavators, 8 dump trucks, 4 speed boats, 4 long boats, 12 jeeps, and 20 trail motorcycles.

G. TIMBER UTILIZATION

Most of the timber production from PT. GRUTI's area is supplied to the group's industries, with the remainder sold inter-island, provincial, or freely traded.

H. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Litbang realization this year includes: Research on Enrichment Plant Growth, Growth of Living Stands (PUP) and Cultivation of local mainstay species

I. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT MANAGEMENT AND MONITORING

The target implementation of environmental impact management and monitoring in this year was carried out in the following areas: River buffer zones, Buffer zones of protected forests and coasts, Germplasm conservation areas, Wildlife protection areas, Permanent measurement areas, Seed garden areas, Transportation roads, Base camps/TPK/TPn. In addition, management efforts are also to prevent and control soil erosion, prevent vegetation damage, prevent wildlife habitat damage, as well as social, economic, and cultural.

J. SOCIAL MANAGEMENT

The company cares about the village communities around its working area, various efforts have been carried out, such as: Utilization of Local Labor, Village Cubicity Assistance, Lagan Compensation, Counseling and Other concerns.
